Just when you thought DICE has forgotten about Battlefield 2, they throw this out there. They are currently working on Battlefield 2 Patch 1.50 and they expect it up for download sometime in the Winter time.

There has been a lot of discussions on the Battlefield forums regarding the Battlefield 2 Update 1.50, so this is to let you all know what's happening.

Update 1.50 is still in development, we have held back on releasing the update as we have become aware of and are taking preventative measures against 3rd party tools which have been severely affecting everyone's playing experience recently by crashing dedicated servers, clients as well as allowing account spoofing. We hope you understand our decision to delay the release to resolve these issues rather than releasing early with a need to update again.

We are looking to release this update by Winter of this year.

Everyones favorite anti-cheat software, Punkbuster has released a new update which it's hoping to take on the macro/hotkey users out there.

Administrators of the server will have a choice as to whether they use it or not.

Release Notes for PB Server v1.683:

[*]the setting pb_sv_restrictions will now accept a value of 2 for cases where a server admin wants PunkBuster to be more restrictive with regard to certain macro or hot key type programs; pb_sv_restrictions will continue to default to the value of 1; admins who want to enforce the additional restrictions must configure "pb_sv_restrictions 2" either at the command line or in the pbsvuser.cfg configuration file in the server's pb folder

The long awaited update for the Point of Existence mod is finally here, in the form of version 2.5. The mod has a long list of changes such as tweaks and additions.

We have been hard at work since last winter creating new content, polishing old content and generally making a better game for you to enjoy. We are pleased to announce that we feel that work has gotten to a point where we can invite you to try it out. Our release comes in a patch version for those already playing 2.1 We are also releasing a two part, 2.4 gigabyte full client version of the mod. In the past we have tried to package the installer into a single massive download. We feel that a two download, two installer version will allow us greater flexibility when dealing with the errors associated with downloading large files. We hope you will agree.
For a few screenshots and download links for the mod check out the official site.

Welcome back to another POE news update! As we mentioned in our last news, we've been testing the next release client for PoE2 and testing has gone extremely well. After getting the Testers seal of approval, we are pleased to announce the next release of PoE2 will be on Friday July 25th! This version will be labelled 2.5 We will be releasing the server files on Wednesday July 23rd so you have plenty of time to set up your boxes ready for Fridays' client release.

The folks over at TuxMedia.tv will be putting out their 100th show. Yes, 100th show! To celebrate hitting this milestone they are doing things a little differently.

They plan on broadcasting to the fans and getting interactive. You can call in using Skype at chat with the folks.

They are also giving away a few copies of Battlefield Bad Company. Keep them peeled for me details on this.

The show and festivities will be held on Saturday June 28th starting at 2pm PST.

The actual episode's stories will be recorded around 5pm PST.

Throughout the rest of the time, the idea is to stream live video from Ole's studio via Stickam (or Ustream). You'll be able to watch directly from the website, we may play some Battlefield 2, and best of all, you can call in at any time via Skype and chat with us. The best moments outside of the actual episode will be edited and added before episode 100's final release.

More details to follow so keep an eye on this thread!
And you can check out that thread over on the TuxMedia forums.

The people at Netgameradio (netGameRadio) interviewed Battlefield guru John Harglid. John, the big man at Dice. And he hinted at a new patch and new map(s). An announcement will be coming out this Monday, so stay tuned!
